If we see inequalities as a critical issue, what is it that prevents us from seeing ways we can have an impact on the inequalities we see every day?

In the fall of 2014, two social justice planning meetings resulted in identifying the “Impact of Inequalities in the North Country” as a focus for our justice work. This theme raises important questions: If we see inequalities as a critical issue, what is it that prevents us from seeing ways we can have an impact on the inequalities we see every day? What inequalities do we see in our community and beyond? How can our church contribute meaningfully to addressing these issues, here in our communities and in the wider world?

Our impact of inequalities theme parallels “Escalating Inequalities,” the UUA Congregational Study/Action Issue, adopted at 2014 General Assembly. Other opportunities for direct advocacy and action can be found at Universalist Service Committee and UUA’s Standing on the Side of Love.
